This training is designed to guide evaluators through the strategic planning and execution of evaluations tailored to the suspected disability condition of a Specific Learning Disability (SLD). Participants will learn how to identify, plan, and conduct evaluations that align with the suspected disability by selecting and interpreting multiple sources of data, such as standardized tests, classroom observations, criterion-referenced information, and student work samples.
The training emphasizes the importance of recognizing patterns of strengths and weaknesses (PSW) in students during SLD evaluations. Participants will gain knowledge in analyzing cognitive and academic data and how to triangulate that data for the determination of a pattern of strengths and weaknesses. The course will also teach participants how to integrate these findings into a parent/teacher friendly, meaningful narrative.
By the end of this course, participants will have the tools and knowledge to:
- Develop a clear and focused evaluation plan based on suspected disabilities.
- Interpret data to identify a PSW and determine eligibility for SLD.
- Structure and write comprehensive, parent/teacher-friendly reports that support educational decision-making.
