June 14
Dr. Jessica Hannigan, author of "Don't Suspend Me! An Alternative Discipline Toolkit", will provide an overview of Alternative/Innovative discipline and will demonstrate the importance of providing restorative, reflective, and instructional methods of supports for students in place of traditional methods of discipline. Learn how to assign effective alternative discipline that works! Hannigan will help educators understand the disproportionality in discipline in minority students by using data to help identify inequities in discipline and develop actions to close the gap.

June 15
Ben Springer, author of "Happy Kids Don't Punch You in the Face", will provide field-tested strategies to eliminate aggressive behaviors in school. Educators will learn to integrate principles of behavioral intervention with the best practices of positive psychology. The student-centered approach to behavior emphasizes optimism and student happiness; learn to manage behavior, ensure safety for all and bring peace back to the classroom, school and district level.
