Mr. Houston will provide a unique training designed specifically for school nurses and those educators who work closely with issues of school nursing. His presentation will explain each school district’s obligation to meet the needs of students with disabilities from the standpoint of understanding the nurse’s role in attending Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings, serving students under IDEA and Section 504, and conducting necessary evaluations required by federal and state education laws. Mr. Houston’s presentation will include review of topics such a school district’s obligations related to delegable duties, school nursing services under an IEP, private duty nurses on-campuses, and how to address parent concerns while complying with the law.
