This Session will explore a team based approach to assessing early childhood students.
It will also provide participants with the opportunity to interact with and view assessments appropriate for use in the evaluation of children ages 3-6 in determining eligibility for identification under IDEA. This session will include the selection of evaluation instruments for conducting the initial evaluation as a child transitions from Early Childhood Intervention Services. Assessments that address motor, social/emotional, self-help, communication, and functional pre-academic skills will be presented. Instruments for inclusion in a comprehensive evaluation for Autism will be included in this session. This session will also address the challenges in the evaluation of young children referred for suspected of intellectual disability or specific learning disabilities.
