Being an American

Being an American is a two day, twelve-hour workshop presented by Law-Related Education (LRE). During the workshop, participants receive scholarly background and materials appropriate for grades 5-12 based on curriculum from the Bill of Rights Institute, extended and enriched with TEKS based materials and activities from LRE. Resources, methods, and discussions offer in-depth scholarly background relating to the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, the Bill of Rights as well as civic values and significant individuals listed in the TEKS. Teachers will participate, with scholar and consultant, in discussions and hands-on strategies to apply the content in the classroom. Materials will be made available to use on a flash drive. This workshop is intended to enhance and augment classroom curriculum.
