Section 504: A School District’s Responsibilities from Child Find to Creation of a Section 504 Plan

This workshop is designed for K-12 staff that are new to Section 504 or want to better understand a school district's duties under this law. This session will provide participants with an overview of what a Local Education Agencies responsibilities are under Section 504. We will walk through the process beginning with Child Find and the initial evaluation to conducting the 504 meeting and developing 504 plans, as well as the school’s duties in regard to reevaluations. Participants will gain additional knowledge on how to individualize Section 504 plans based on the identified disability condition, manifestation determination reviews, dyslexia under 504 and obtaining medical information from licensed physicians.
