In this session we will go over a description of the Texas Model Guide and steps to implement a robust program for your students. All grade levels will be addressed. The afternoon portion of this session will be a work day for you to collaborate with each other to help build your programs.
About the Model Guide: The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs is a revision and expansion of the 2004 Pre-K-12th Grade Development Guide: A Model Comprehensive, Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program for Texas Public Schools. The revision was completed by the Texas Counseling Association (TCA) in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency (TEA). As in the 2004 guide, the Texas Model is based on the statutory description of Texas school counseling programs and school counselor responsibilities (Texas Education Code [TEC] §§33.005-33.007). The Texas Model is further expanded to address changes to statute related to school counseling since 2004.
