Come join us for a day of learning new Math and Literacy Games! Half of the day will be spent on math games and the other half on literacy games.
Come prepared to play games that incorporate the use of highly motivating and engaging manipulatives including cards, dice and dominoes. Participants will learn how to differentiate the games and activities to reach the wide range of learners in their classrooms, and how to use games for small groups, whole class or centers. Concepts covered will include: number sense, operational fluency and place value. Handout will contain gameboards, concept skill checklists for assessment and journal/writing math talk extensions.
The literacy games will incorporate the use of letter tiles, literacy dice, and word decks. Concepts covered will be introducing the alphabet and its' sounds, word family and patterns, rhyme, spelling simple CVC words into two syllable words, vocabulary development, vowels. Handout will contain gameboards for immediate use in the classroom. Ideas for differentiation, whole class/small group, and center instruction will be shared throughout the workshop.
ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE both math and literacy manipulatives to create many centers in their classrooms. COME PREPARED TO PLAY!
