Come prepared to play games that incorporate the use of cards and dice. This workshop is perfect for teachers who haven’t experienced a Box Cars And One-Eyed Jacks math games workshop in the past few years, as well as those teachers who attended last year's workshop. Games and strategies (different from those of last year’s workshop) will be presented that focus on the following concepts: operational fluency including multi-digit operations, mixed operations and order of operations, review of basic facts, fraction, equivalency, as well as place value to the millions/decimals.
Participants will learn how to differentiate the games to meet the needs of all learners, use games for assessment, learn how to use math talk and journal extensions. You will also receive an extensive PDF handout with supplemental games and concept skills checklists. Activities can be used whole class, small groups or in center. A pack of manipulatives will also be provided by to those who register. Come prepared to participate, have fun and rejuvenate your math classes with effective hands-on math games and activities.
