This training will provide Mental health professionals, Educators, Parents, Staff and Community support providers with information concerning ways to support students in regards to social media and mental health. 
The purpose of this workshop is to educate, equip and empower parents, educators and other adults with the knowledge and resources needed to protect children from Internet dangers including predators, cyberbullies and threats related to online gaming, social networking and mobile devices. This workshop will give a firsthand look at recognizing emotional distress in students due to social media and the role of parents and staff in digital safekeeping.
 
Following this presentation, the participants will be able to:
 
1. Identify devices, software, websites and applications that students are using (both in school and at home).
2. Explain to students the potential harms that come with Internet usage.
3. Discuss and identify how today’s children are interacting online, the positive and negative implications of technology.
4. Identify how to parent/teach with more understanding about the culture of technology for their families/students.
