Unlicensed Diabetes Care Assistant Training

This training is mandatory for non-licensed personnel. REQUIRED ANNUALLY. House Bill 984 requires that a campus that has a full time nurse, have one unlicensed diabetes assistant (UDCA). A campus that does not have a full time nurse must have 3 UDCAs. This is only if there is a student with diabetes, but it is better to meet the requirement all the time in the event a student is diagnosed or transfers in with diabetes. This training is mandatory for non-licensed personnel. The primary purpose of the CDC COVID-19 Public Health Workforce Supplemental Funding Nursing Grant is to establish, expand, train, and sustain the State of Texas public health workforce to support jurisdictional COVID-19 prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives, including school-based health programs. This workshop meets the grant's objective of training qualified school health professionals, including, but not limited to, school nurses, by providing foundational knowledge to help them effectively serve in their current positions.
