MONOLINGUAL AND BILINGUAL EVALUATORS OF EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS: FINDING COMMON GROUND




      


As the population of emergent bilinguals (EB) grows in Texas, so does the need for an increased awareness of best practices by monolingual and bilingual evaluators. This training will focus on how to (a) determine language proficiency in the native language (L1) and English (L2); (b) conduct appropriate academic and cognitive testing; (c) interpret evaluation results; and (d) make appropriate decisions and recommendations for consideration by the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee.
