Moving from ‘NO’ Moments to ‘Yes’ Moments: Focus on Building Behavioral Momentum for Success
Have you ever observed an individual with ASD refusing to follow instructions or attempting to avoid work demands? It is not uncommon for parents and educators to be faced with challenging behaviors that interfere with daily tasks and the classroom environment. In this session, Dr. Lori Ernsperger will provide parents and educators with evidence based strategies for shifting “NO” moments to “YES” moments with the focus on building behavioral momentum through the use of choice-making, interspersals, and concrete instructions. In addition, Dr. Lori will offer practical solutions for responding to “NO” moments that will reduce the likelihood of future occurrences.

(session 2) Girls Under the Umbrella of Autism Spectrum Disorders: Exploring Females with ASD
Females with ASD are often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed. During this session, Dr. Lori Ernsperger will highlight preliminary findings for the gender disparity between males and females with ASD including genetic differences, socialization, and gaps in diagnostic tools. The focus of this presentation is to provide strategies for improving diagnostic procedures for females with ASD and ultimately improve outcomes.
