Decoding and the Emerging Reader-Presented by Shari Zimmer

Who should attend? Grade K-1 teachers and elementary administrators and literacy professionals. Join us for our engaging and efficient Decoding and the Emerging Reader Workshop.  Participants will walk away with immediate strategies and learn the best practices in teaching the subskills that build strong decoders.

What will you learn? Come develop strategies to ensure your emerging readers will establish firm foundations in the subskills that lead to strong decoding and fluent reading. Learn how to teach phoneme play, letter-sound relationships, encoding, decoding, onset rime, rhyming, and sight word fluency. Participants learn the most efficient methods for helping young students read developmentally appropriate unfamiliar and multi-syllable words.
