Vision Certification

This training is for the vision screening required of schools and  is open to school nurses, nurses' aides and volunteers. This workshop fulfills a requirement from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), for training individuals who will conduct vision screenings in school settings. Vision certification is valid for five years. NOTE: Participants who are 15 or more minutes late will be requested to reschedule this workshop. On the Registration page, please do not enter anything in the "Required Accommodations" box unless you have a special physical need that will require Region 5 ESC to make a special accommodation for you. The primary purpose of the CDC COVID-19 Public Health Workforce Supplemental Funding Nursing Grant is to establish, expand, train, and sustain the State of Texas public health workforce to support jurisdictional COVID-19 prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives, including school-based health programs. This workshop meets the grant's objective of training qualified school health professionals, including, but not limited to, school nurses, by providing foundational knowledge to help them effectively serve in their current positions.
